Port-en-Bessin - 8,2 km
A charming fishing village, Normandy's first artisanal fishing port. In the harbour, watch the impressive difference between low and high tides and take a walk along the cliff-side beach. Use google to find out the times of the tides during the period you are there.

The D-Day landing beaches of Normandy
The invasion beaches on which the Allies landed are divided into 5 regions: Utah Beach, Omaha Beach, Gold Beach, Juno Beach and Sword Beach. Around those beaches and in the nearby villages most of the sights can be found. Impressive and educational!

The Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial is a US military cemetery and memorial in memory of the American soldiers died in the 1944 Normandy landings during World War II. This historic site contains 9,387 headstones of US soldiers who died, and the names of 1,557 missing soldiers are engraved in the Garden of the Missing.

An important structure in the Atlantic Wall, consisting of a command post and four casemates with one artillery piece each. Maisy Battery was a secret German coastal defence site near Grandcamp-Maisy, Normandy, covering the Omaha Beach and Utah Beach sectors during the Allied invasion of Normandy in 1944. It was part of the German Atlandtikwall and was the main defensive position for that area.

It is a small museum with extensive product shop and soft-serve ice cream, nice to visit on the way to an activity/sightseeing. Advice to do this before 15:30 so you can actually see the factory still at work. After 4pm, chances are you'll see more cleaning than caramel making.
Sainte-Mère-Église - 51 km
A doll with a parachute hangs in the church tower of this village. The doll commemorates a paratrooper who got stuck with his parachute to the church tower during his landing. For two hours, he pretended to be dead and thus managed to save his life. He only sustained hearing damage from the loud church bells. Several wo2-related museums can also be visited in this village and its surroundings.
Utah Beach bunkers in the dunes - 57 km
Walk through the dunes and discover the many former bunkers. Although the atmosphere is peaceful and the area beautiful, the bunkers along the paths are a reminder that a bloody event took place here. Tip: there are also several wo2-related museums near Utah Beach, definitely worth a visit!

About the host
We are Dennis and Rèzlin and live in the Netherlands with our sons Sven and Jurre. In 2021, this beautiful house with its barns came our way. It once served as the water mill of the French village of Saon. We fell in love with the house and its surroundings! Le Moulin (The Mill) is located in the region of Normandy, France, which, in terms of history, fits right in with our interest in World War II.

Superb location in a countryside environment. Strategically placed to visit the D-day landing locations, and close to nice towns like Bayeux.
Very good experience at Moulin. Came with a group of friends and three children. Very nice outdoor space, quiet rooms, and workable kitchen. Rezlin was very responsive and the value for the house for four days was definitely worth it. Recommended if coming to Normandy!
Absolute fantastic place to stay if you want to have the privacy of the countryside but be within a stones throw of the local amenities.
Beautiful location and property and you instantly feel right at home. Rezlin was a brilliant host and was very attentive.

Fantastisch gerenoveerde, bijzondere woning. Comfortabel warm in de winter, zomers gekoeld. Hoge standaard, ook wb inrichting en keukenattributen. Op de foto's lijken de ruimtes kleiner dan wij ze ervaarden. Kinderspeelgoed aanwezig. Super aardige verhuurders. Op verzoek kinderstoeltje en-bedje neergezet. 15 min van D-day en recreatie stranden.
Emplacement très sympa le gîte très confortable je recommande et je reviendrai.
Le manque de vaisselle pour 8 pers faire un lave vaisselle à chaque repas c'est dommage il manque un grand saladier et une essoreuse à salade.
La maison et les lieux sont superbes. Nous avons passé un excellent week-end.

Mooie, rustige plek. Het huisje is mooi opgeknapt en van alle gemakken voorzien. Het blijft met behulp van de warmtepompen ook fijn koel in de zomer. Goede uitvalsbasis om de D-Day stranden te bezoeken en mooie omgeving. Aanrader voor mensen die van privacy en rust houden.

This was an absolutely perfect stay. Everything was as described in the listing. Very peaceful and beautiful surroundings. There was a town with everything we needed about 7 mins away. Around 15-20 mins from Omaha beach. We had an unexpected power outage due to a complication at a neighbor’s house …
Wat hebben wij ontzettend genoten van een week in dit prachtige huis. De rust bij huis, maar alle 'gemakken' van de stad dichtbij. Wat een schitterende omgeving om te verkennen. We hopen zeker nog eens terug te komen.
Le Moulin is echt een authentiek verblijf, mooi ingericht met ook voor detail. Het heeft een bijzonder rustige en toch ook centrale ligging voor o.a. de kust van Normandië. Wij waren met twee gezinnen met kinderen en hebben het super gehad. Ook de woonkeuken vonden wij enorm prettig. Super aardige …

Gîte très agréable, très bien restauré, notamment très bonne literie. Seul bémol : rien n'est écrit en français, les modes d'emploi des appareils sont tous en néerlandais et en anglais. Détail : il n'y a pas de grille-pain ;)

Fantastische accommodatie! Perfect voor liefhebbers van geschiedenis. Het huis is luxueus, maar ziet er tegelijkertijd uit als een historisch Frans huis. De moderne technologie is perfect geïntegreerd in het ouderwetse huis.
Als je in dit huis verblijft, waan je je echt in het ouderwetse Frankrijk!

Het huis is goed verzorgd en alle voorzieningen zijn aanwezig.
Zeer mooi (afgelegen) sfeervol huis in mooie omgeving. Veel privacy, veel voorzieningen (o.a. staafmixer, wasmachine en “starttasje” bij aankomst met o.a. Vaatwastabletten, koffiefilters, afwasborstel enz). in huis (o.a. Netflix bij slecht weer en mogelijkheid om chromekast aan te sluiten, spelletjes divers aanwezig).
Prachtig gerestaureerd huis met de perfecte combinatie van nostalgie en moderne gemakken.
Je hebt een eigen oprit, het huis staat een eind van de weg en is daardoor een oase van rust.
